Configuring a standby server
A standby server is a redundant FileMaker Server installation that is ready to take over operations from the primary server. The primary server regularly replicates its data and configuration to the standby server. However, the server administrator must act to switch operations from the primary server to the standby server. The Standby Server feature is an add-on purchase available to FileMaker Server customers.
To specify standby server settings in Admin Console, click the Connectors > Standby Server tab. The tab presents the following server role options:
-
None - Not one of a primary/standby server pair.
-
Primary - See Configuring a primary server to use a standby server.
-
Standby - See Configuring standby server machine settings.
-
Standby Snapshot - See Configuring standby server machine settings using a virtual machine snapshot.
