Deleting backups permanently

If you remove a closed database on the Databases page, the database is removed from the databases list in Admin Console and moved from the hosting folder to a Removed_by_FMS\Removed folder. See Removing hosted files.

After a database is removed, the next scheduled backup will not include the database, but you can click the Removed Files tab to see a list of the previous backups. By default, the backups listed on the Removed Files tab are available for 15 days before automatic deletion begins. You can use the Backups Retention Policy for Removed Databases setting on the Remote BackupsRemote Backup Settings section to change the default setting.

You can also choose to delete a backup for a removed file permanently using Admin Console.

To permanently delete a removed file:

  1. Click Remote Backups > Removed Files.

  2. Select the backups that you want to delete.

  3. Click Delete Backups.

Warning  After you confirm in the next step, the selected backups are permanently deleted. This action cannot be undone.

  4. Click Permanently Delete.
