Working with remote backups

In the left pane of the Remote Backups page:

  • Click Remote Backup Drives to see a list of current remote drives and their approval and connection status, to assign or unassign a drive, and to connect or disconnect a drive.

  • Click Listed By Timestamp to see a list of remote backups sorted by the date and time they were created, to preserve backups, to edit backup labels, to restore backups, and to download backups.

  • Click Preserved to see the list of preserved backups, to edit preserved backup labels, to remove a backup from the preserved list, to restore backups, and to download backups.

  • Click Hosted Files to see the available backups for each hosted file and to restore or download backups for a hosted file.

  • Click Removed Files to restore, download, or permanently delete backups of removed files.

  • Click Backup Message Center to view the status of tasks for uploading databases, restoring backups, or downloading backups.

  • Click Remote Backup Settings to modify the backups retention policy and the backups retention policy for removed databases and to enable or disable whether backups with saved encryption passwords will be downloaded as unencrypted databases.

Notes 

  • The default backups retention period is 30 days. You can modify the retention period to be between 1 and 30 days. To change the retention policy, click Remote BackupsRemote Backup Settings.

  • You can use the date box in the timestamp backups and preserved backups pages to filter backups by a specific date.

  • The Backup Message Center > Backup Tasks section includes backup restoration tasks where download preparations are complete. Click the Download button to save the backup file to your local computer.

  • The Backup Message Center > Backup Tasks section includes a progress bar for tasks that are in progress.

  • The default retention period for backups for removed databases is 15 days. You can modify the retention period to be between 1 and 30 days. To change the retention policy, click Remote BackupsRemote Backup Settings.
